Welcome to the Eastern Minor Hockey League (EMHL)!


2017/18 EMHL Guidelines And Playing Rules

Mites - All games are twelve minute stop time periods.
Penalties: Minors are One and a Half minutes; Major is Four minutes; Misconduct is Six minutes.
All games are played under modified USA Hockey rules.

Squirt Minor through Midget Major - All games are three fifteen minute stop time periods.
Penalties: Minors are One and a Half minutes; Major is Five minutes; Misconduct is Ten minutes.
All games are played under USA Hockey Rules.
All games will have two officials assigned to each game, and a timekeeper (assigned by the home team).

All scores need to be reported no later than NOON on Monday after the weekend they were played.
They should be scanned and emailed to emhl@nes.com. A clear picture from a cell phone is also acceptable.

Game Sheet Distribution: Winner gets the white copy; the losing team gets the yellow copy; and the pink copy is retained by the association or team. It is the responsibility of each team to keep copies of your team's games. It is the responsibility of the winning team to report the score to the EMHL office. In the event of a tie, it is the responsibility of the home team to report the score to the EMHL office.

Any adjustments to the EMHL schedule can only be requested by a Program Director.

Any and all game cancellations, including any due to weather, must be made through a Program Director and approved by the EMHL.

The following criteria will be used for the 2016-17 season to determine final placement in the standings for round robin seedings and semi final positioning:
  1. Team with the most points
  2. If two teams are tied with the same amount of points, it will be determined by head to head competition based upon the regular season games
  3. If two or more teams are still tied with same amount of points and using head to head is out, final standings will be determined based upon the team with the highest winning percentage
  4. If teams are still tied, the next tie breaker will be least amount of goals allowed

For the first time ever the Central Mass Outlaws will be fielding teams in the Eastern Minor Hockey League (EMHL) for the coming season. For 2017-18, the Outlaws will feature EMHL teams at multiple age groups.

Reporting Scores

September 3, 2015

The winning team (or home team if game ends tied) must scan the completed scoresheet and e-mail the attachment to emhl@nes.com

Please submit all scores to the league office by noon (12pm) on the Monday following each weekend's games to ensure that they are posted promptly and accurately. Early submissions are welcome and encouraged.

When submitting scores, please list the following in the subject line of the e-mail, and also name the attached file (scanned image or PDF) the same way.

Please Include:

The age group year (04, 03, 02, etc.)

Division (mite, squirt, peewee, etc.)

Date of the game

Teams involved

All of this will help expedite the process of the scores being posted efficiently and effectively.

The EMHL is the home of competitive teams from the 15 great youth hockey programs featured on this website, with 2013-2014 as its inaugural season. The EMHL is an opportunity for the accomplished youth hockey player to experience great competition, a robust, stable game schedule and minimized travel, while improving his/her hockey skills.

The EMHL consists of seven divisions, with 15 teams in each division at the Mite, Squirt Minor, Squirt Major, Pee Wee Minor, Pee Wee Major, Bantam Minor and Bantam Major levels.

There will be playoffs within each subdivision, with one or more teams advancing from these playoffs to the EMHL Championships for each division.
